  • Cause of death was a blow to the head.
  • Estimated Date of Death: 10 days to three weeks.
  • Her nickname is The Lady in the Dunes

  • Vital Statistics

    • Estimated age: 25 - 40 years old
    • Approximate Height and Weight: 5' 6-1/2"; 145 lbs.
    • Distinguishing Characteristics: Long, auburn or reddish-blond hair. Athletic body. 34" waist, 31" legs. Her hair was tied in a ponytail with a rubber-type barrette. Her toenails were painted pink.
    • Dentals: Extensive dental work. She had gold crowns on her teeth worth $5000 up to $10,000 at that time. The dental work was done in what dentists call "the New York style" of dental work. Dental charts available.
    • Clothing: Jeans were found at the scene. She wore a elastic barrette in her hair. She lay on one half of a light green, heavy cotton beach blanket.
    • DNA: Available

    Case History
The victim was discovered in the dunes about a mile east of the Race Point ranger station in the summer of 1974.
The woman's hands were missing -presumably removed by the killer so she could not be identified through fingerprints - and her head was nearly severed from her body with an instrument similar to a military entreching tool. The left side of her skull had been crushed. No weapon was found at the site.
Her nude body was discovered lying on a beach towel with her head resting on her folded-up jeans. There was no sign of a struggle, and the woman lay on half the towel, as if she'd been sharing it with a companion.
The body was exhumed in 2000, in an attempt to confirm her identity.

McCollom allegedly stated that the victim had identified herself as “Lisa” and that she was from “Philly”. He also told investigators that he picked up the prostitute in Boston and drove her to his room at the YMCA in Lynn, Massachusetts. They then argued over money and he strangled her.

    Unidentified White Female with Admixture

    • The victim was discovered on October 14, 2005 in Dorchester, Suffolk County, Massachusetts
    • Estimated Date of Death: She could have been deceased anywhere from 3 months to five years before discovery.
    • Skeletal Remains
    • Formerly Hot Case # 312

    Vital Statistics

    • Estimated age: 25-35 years old. (+/- 5 years)
    • Approximate Height and Weight: 5' 2" (+/- 3"); small-medium build.
    • Distinguishing Characteristics: Mixed: Caucasian/Hispanic with possible Black or Asian Ad-mixture Female. Eye color unknown. Black or Dark Brown hair, past shoulder length. X-rays showed no broken or healed bones or any other injuries during life. There were no visible scars or tattoos. She was wearing red plastic fingernails. She had at least one child.
    • Dentals: Lost posterior lower teeth, her molars were gone, front lower teeth present. She had a very unique upper partial dental plate, which held three teeth only two were present. Based on certain grooves on her teeth, it is believed that this acrylic plate replaced a metal one that she had worn previously. A civilian dental expert indicates that the style and construction of the plate shows it may have been made either in the Caribbean or in the United States by a dentist from Haiti or Jamaica. A dental expert said the plate was probably black market or underground.

    Case History
The victim was located in Dorchester, Massachusetts on October 14, 2005, in an apartment building just outside Boston, at 1719 Winter Street. A chimney sweep was hired to clean out the basement chimney and fix the heating in the apartment building.
In the late 1960s, the chimney was used as an incinerator, but since then an air conditioning unit was placed at the opening. Behind the air conditioner was a slab of cement and a piece of particleboard. The chimney sweep made a small hole through the board and began to pull out debris. He pulled out what he thought was a tree branch. However, when he looked closer at it, he saw that there were red plastic fingernails attached. He immediately called 9-1-1 and the Boston Police Department discovered a female body entombed in the chimney.

The lead investigator for the case says he thinks she was there since 2002. "Somebody who had some association with the building -- a resident, an employee or someone familiar with a resident or employee -- has some knowledge about whatever happened."
Between January 2002 and January 2005, he said, an access door to the building basement was typically left unlocked. Whoever buried the woman knew that, he said, and knew of the chimney as a hiding place.

The Massachusetts State Medical Examiner's Forensic Anthropologist was called to the scene to recover, and examine the body. The Anthropologist conducted an extensive examination and population profile of the deceased and the results denote strong Caucasian genetics. However there were several other genetic identifiers/traits pointing to population mixture, such as her mouth, and jaw-line. The victim's hair was straight, and black or dark brown and past shoulder length. She may or may not have appeared to be Caucasian by her skin color, or other visual racial/ethnic features. She may also have appeared to be Caucasian, and claimed or been of another racial/ethnic background independently. Therefore, these facts should not eliminate the possibility of her being from either the Caucasian/Hispanic, Black or Asian population/race. Grooves in her hips "suggest" childbirth, she possibly could have had children.

    Case History
The victim was located on May 22, 1975 in Burlington, MA. The partially decomposed body had been buried in a shallow grave in a wooded area near Muller Road. This man was the victim of a homicide. It is believed that the man had probably been buried for about 6 months before he was found.

The Scene of the Crime :
The area is wooded and was used as a "lovers lane" at the time. The burial site wasn't very far from the road. It was probably within view of passing traffic. There were, and still are some houses nearby. The rest of the area at that time would have been wooded and isolated. There are a lot of industrial parks nearby now. It's within a mile of Route 95 (what was then only Route 128) and Route 3.
The best clues available to identify the victim are the distinctive belt buckle and the very unique medallion, suggestive of association with a motorcycle gang. At that time, there were reports of motorcycle gangs in town. There were a couple of houses where four of them, five of them lived.
Also, the black socks and gold fillings in those days usually meant you were associated with the military or law enforcement. Dental records would easily confirm the man's identity.

    • Estimated Date of Death: 1987-1991
    • Skeletal Remains
    • Cause of Death: Undetermined, Homicide not ruled out.

    Vital Statistics

    • Estimated age: 13-17 years old
    • Approximate Height and Weight: 5'6-5'10"; weight unknown.
    • Distinguishing Characteristics: Hair and eye color unknown. No distinguishing marks noted.
    • Clothing: 32-30 Levi jeans, size 11 Reebok Sneakers T-shirt, no logo, no tag
    • Fingerprints: Not available
    • Dentals: Available. He had an impacted molar which had grown sideways and out through the jaw. Forensic Anthropologist said it must have been very painful. There is no indication that he ever received any dental treatment.
    • DNA: In CODIS

    Case History
The victim was located in a wooded area off Route 95, which runs from Florida to Maine, so it is believed he could have come from anywhere, including Canada.
State Police believe that the youth was a runaway, but his description did not match that of any teen-agers reported missing locally.
He was found just off the SB Rte 113 exit.
A Forensic Anthropologist examined the body, and his age was determined from teeth and from the fact that certain of his bone shafts had not yet fused, which happens at about age 20.
Another way to identify him is through the X-rays of his head and body. If he ever had a skull X-ray, for his head injury, they would be able to match it or rule it out with his X-ray. No cause of death could be determined, though there were no markings on the skeleton, soft tissue injury was possible.

    • The victim was discovered on October 28, 2000 in Methuen, Essex County, Massachusetts
    • Estimated Date of Death: Anywhere from six months to four years prior to discovery
    • Homicide Victim

    Vital Statistics

    • Estimated age: 35 - 40 years old
    • Approximate Height and Weight: 6'1” - 6'5”
    • Distinguishing Characteristics: He had brown hair with some gray in it, which was about six or seven inches long, and had a goatee. Thin build.
    • Dentals: Most of his molars were missing on the top and bottom, resulting in a wide space in the middle of his teeth on the bottom.
    • Clothing: He was wearing Maverick blue jeans with a 34-inch waist, Texas Steer black, construction boots, approximately size 12, a blue long sleeve shirt with white stripes, similar to what a mechanic might wear, with a rag in the pocket. He was also wearing a navy blue t-shirt, and size 32 Fruit of the Loom briefs. The boots and blue jeans used to be sold at Kmart stores.
    • DNA: Available

    Case History
The victim was murdered and buried in a in a four foot deep grave at a construction site in Metheun, MA. The body was discovered wrapped in a blanket. The land sits at the corner of Pelham Street and Aegean Drive, across the street from the Nabisco plant, in the Marsh Corner neighborhood.
At the time there wasn't much at the location. But it is close to two major highways, and just minutes from the New Hampshire border. The grave is located close to a dirt road that once led right to this spot.
Police think the man might be from another part of the country because of the way he was dressed. Maverick blue jeans and Texas steer black boots, not common clothes in the Boston area. The man had work rags in his pocket, all potential clues to what he did for a living.
There's a possibility he was some kind of mechanic, somebody who worked with his hands. There were some items found on his person that led police to believe a mechanic, a truck driver, maybe a biker.
Since October 2000, police have used DNA and dental records trying to figure out whom the victim is and where he's from. But they've had no luck.
